HMI / SCADA is a type of control system architecture to provide a graphical interface to the operator by using networked data. The HMI / SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) gets data from PLC and other control devices and present them to the operator using a Human Machine Interface (HMI). BASIC COMPONENTS OF A HMI / SCADA SYSTEM:

Supervisory Computers: The computer and software system which gathers data and send commands to the connected devices.

Remote Terminal u=Unit (RMU): A microprocessor based device to control and monitor field devices remotely.

Programmable Logic Controller (PLC): A programmable controller which controls the production processes, assembly lines and robotics devices.

Communication Infrastructure: This is the total network of communications mainly driven by PLCs and RTUs. Communication may be wired or wireless.

Human Machine Interface (HMI): It’s the interface or operator window to present details regarding the machines and processes in a graphical manner.
